IC INFORMATION
Character name: Pvt. Julian "Bird" Magpie
Character Description: Green as the fresh grown grass on his home planet, optimistic, yet slowly losing said optimism as the war goes on
Character Backstory: Born on Chi Ceti IV, Julian grew up in a monastery, and quickly learned he was super awful at being a monk. After being kicked out due to a big misunderstanding, Magpie left to join the UNSC because, frankly, he had nowhere else to go. He quickly came to love the comraderie and the unity of it. His fellow teammates inspired the monk to strive his hardest in the corps, and that got him a spot in selection for ODSTs. After an unceremonious transfer and a melancholy goodbye to his squad mates, Julian was subjected to three years of hell, also referred to as ODST basic. There he was subjected to conditions he still sees I his dreams,, and hasn't slept well since. After completing his training, he was almost immediately sent to his new unit, the 63rd. After completing his first combat drop, 3 days after the battalion did theirs, Julian and several others were forced to catch up in an active combat zone, while avoiding the droves of covenant littering the drop zone. Now caught up with the unit, he does his best to carry his weight, and maybe make a couple of friends along the way.
Demonstrate proper roleplay for this character: Julian hefts his pack, as he sighs. When he was told his MOS was getting changed to 0317, he didn't expect to be carrying an anti materiel cannon chambered in 14,5x114mm, With a telescopic sight, AND a bipod with him at all times. His back has been sore since the day he got reassigned, and he was not a fan. Though, on the bright side, Bird thought, he would have no problem with long range targets, as he had before, and he was grateful for that. This was definitely going to be something to get used to. Since this was some downtime, Magpie decided to go to the firing range to make adjustments, and personalize his rifle. He sets it down on the table in front of him, and unfolds the bipod, he uses the controls on his left to set the target 100m away, just to start out. He takes a set of dummy rounds from the box beneath him, and loads the rifle, taking out the safety flag he had inserted beforehand. He sits down at the bench, and begins making his adjustments to the scope, before firing a shot. Magpie would've said that the kick was like a mule, but he had never known any mule that kicked like that. He rubs his shoulder, and looks at the target, his shot landing high and right of the bullseye. He once again made his adjustment, and lined himself up. He took a deep breath, and slowly exhaled, pulling the trigger near the end of his breath. His shot was closer, but not *exact.* He lined up another shot, and fired once again, and winced. He made some final adjustments on the scope, and pulled the trigger once again, hitting the bullseye dead on. He grinned at his success, and reloaded, before setting the target farther back, at 250 meters. He continued to make adjustments until he'd hit bullseye at that distance, then 400, then 500. Magpie was a perfectionist in that sense.
