IC INFORMATION
Character name: Charter Vane
Character Description: A 5'11" male with a wiry build and a shock of black hair, Charter has a slight scar on the right side of his jaw after getting in a brawl in a pub in his youth. He will often spend his downtime maintaining his uniform, however he has painted his helmet orange in reference to the dirt in Central Australia, as well as painting a pair of dingoes on it as a reminder of his survival training and the scavenging involved. Despite not being born on Earth himself, Charter is very proud of his Australian heritage and the variety of wildlife there. Having spent a large portion of his youth in Brisbane, he would often go camping and learning to be comfortable in the wild. From having spent so much time in a relaxed culture, Charter can often be found to appear as relaxed and easy going, until he enters a potentially dangerous or hostile situation, which will often leave him ready for action. Thanks to the amount of time spent camping in his youth, he will often enjoy ops in remote locations such as jungles and forests and during ops will be most in his element camping in the woodlands.
Character Backstory: Charter was born in the cities of Luna whilst his parents had been on a business trip from a shipping company based in Brisbane, Australia. After his birth, his parents had decided to stay in Luna for a while before returning to their home in Brisbane. For as long as he could remember, Charter had loved exploring and encountering wildlife. Whilst camping in Central Australia with his parents, a pair of dingoes had wandered into their camp looking for food and had killed a Red Kangaroo that had been hanging around their camp. This event had been what first sparked his love of dingoes and their scavenging natures, leading him to learn to survive in the wild with very little gear.
As the tension with the Insurrectionists began to rise, Charter would often get into fights while at the pub or on the beach with some supporters of the Insurrectionists, which after loosing a fight that left him scarred on the jaw left him determined to join the UNSC as a marine to be able to fight back. Charter could often be found laughing and acting like a larrakin in his Basic Training, yet ready to be serious and fighting when the time came. Often, he would take advantage of the strangeness of his slang for either quietly joking about his superiors in down time or using it to communicate messages with as few people being likely to understand it as possible.
Being so used to wildlife is something that has come into a distinct advantage for him whilst in the field, not only for developing his skills in hunting, skinning and eating food, but also in moving as quietly as possible in the wild, out of urban areas. His preparedness for surviving in the wild had been one of the driving factors to his joining the ODST, with his hopes of becoming a marksman specializing in survival in hostile environments.

Groaning quietly as he moved back from the ridgeline he had been watching an Insurrectionist camp from, Vane silently made his back to the camp he'd made in an old burrow under the roots of a tree. It had taken the best part of a week to make enough room for a camp that he'd still be able to easily hide if a patrol came near, yet the effort had definitely been worth it.
As he quietly chewed on some dried meat a sound of quiet rustling came to his ears.
"Shit, a patrol already? Someone out there is either paranoid or not here to root spiders." he muttered to himself, wishing they'd just sent out some bludger to have mad life easy. Quietly moving into the shadows of some shrubbery covering an indentation in a boulder, Vane slowed his breath and listened, hoping for the odd drongo that might let slip a bit of intel that he'd not already heard.
"That damn captain" the Innie complained to himself, "always so paranoid, can't he just relax? It's not like the UNSC has any reason to be out here, this isn't even the final damn destination for this cargo"
Smiling to himself with his face in the dirt, Vane silently thanked the universe for people not knowing how to keep their real complaints to themselves... Or at least that they'd not used slang that he didn't know. Yet still, it was an important information that he had to relay up the food-chain. As he waited for the Innie to move far enough away, the rain started pouring, the soft sound of it pattering against it his helmet. At least it would give his water supply an extra hand.
As midnight neared, he gathered his supplies, took apart his camp and headed to the rendezvous point. Charter knew he would miss this area, there had been a lot of interesting nocturnal wildlife, but it would be nice to be someplace warm and dry again-preferably somewhere with cold beers-though he knew it had to wait until his report was in. Command would definitely want to know where the Innies were taking these stolen supplies, especially if the MGs and explosive ordinance he'd seen were going to be used for any plans they might have. Though he'd not fired a single shot, this was still a mission he'd not be forgetting any time soon, largely because it was his new favorite camping spot.
