Background:
Thomas grant was born into one of the many slums of Arcadia. His mother died shortly after childbirth due to a lack of adequate medical care within close proximity to their apartment. Frank Grant had taken on a variety of jobs in order to keep himself and his son fed. Eventually he managed to save up enough money to pay for the prohibitively expensive private schooling on Arcadia. Grant was an above average student though according to the counselors at the facility it did not come naturally and was a result of Thomas's "outstanding work ethic". He managed to pass through all of his courses with impressive marks. He had applied (and been accepted for) one of the most prestigious colleges of the planet. However Grant's life would take a sudden turn following the Insurrectionist bombing of the mayoral building of Abaskun. Frank Grant, was among the casualties. Within days of the incident Thomas Grant signed up for the Marine Corps where he served with distinction for three years, earning a bronze star and subsequently an invitation to the ODST program which he promptly accepted. For the remainder of his career, he served with distinction to such a degree that he was offered a position within ONI's Special Warfare Group 7 which he rejected citing that "ONI is a rabbit hole you never climb out of." Much to the staff sergeant's chagrin this had only stalled his involvement with ONI as he would eventually be attached to the 65th ODST and thusly the ONI led Siege of Antioch.
